Flowers

Fiji does have a range of beautiful local flowers that can be used for all aspects of your wedding, where needed, flowers can also be flown into the country, time and budget allowing of course.

Flower Options:

When choosing your bouquet, it is always best to take into consideration the design and colour of your dress as well as your body shape. If you have a petite body, a large trailing bouquet will look out of place a

s it covers a large part of your body. Similarly, if you have curvaceous body, a small posy will make you seem much bigger then you are (just as ‘apparently’ small pockets on your jean’s make your rear look bigger then it would if your pockets were larger).

In Fiji the traditional white bouquet is most often done with tropical white orchids or beautifully fragrant frangipani’s when in season.

If you prefer a colour bouquet, you may want to consider using Fiji’s local flowers which include gingers, heliconias, orchids, frangipanis and foliage.

Kim’s Corner

My personal favourite when it comes to flowers for your Fiji Wedding is the brightly coloured bouquets. An interesting collection of a variety of local tropical flowers, the different colours, textures and shapes add that interesting, fresh, fun element that stands out against the beautiful white white wedding dress.

Wedding Traditions

The Brides Bouquet

Historically a bride carried her bouquet for protective reasons (garlic to drive away evil spirits), through time garlic and spices were replaced with the floral bouquet which represented hope for a large family and the symbolism of fertility.

Tossing of Petals

The tossing of rice, which is today often replaced with petals has it’s origin in symbolising increase in fertility for the couple and their harvest.
